On 20th of March Kaunas Dance Theatre will appear in 12th International Kassel Dance Festival. AURA dancers will produce two performances - “Tabula Rasa” and “Interiors”.
The choreography of performance “Tabula Rasa” is created by the known Canadian modern dance representative Barbara Bourget. Since the biggest influence for this dance performance was the loss of choreographers sister, this dance is transfused with silence and reverie.
There are 2 parts in this piece - in the first part there is life and fight; the second part is about leaving the world, life, and people, who stay there and have to face the loss.
Dancers are trying to remind for spectators that all of us are born in tabula rasa – like clean and untouched sheet of paper... And what will be written on it depends only on ourselves – on relationships with others and with all the rest...
Performance “Interiors” will be brought back to its native country – Germany. “Interiors” was built up in Bonn with Czech choreographer Karel Vanek on the autumn of 2008. Lots of attention is given to improvisation through which individuality of dancers, distinction of motion and space sense is revealed. “Improvisation is the main method of my oeuvre. And the conception picks up during the process of creation,” - Karel says.
Music for the performance is created by talented German composer Carsten Nikolai (also known by the Alva Noto pseudonym). Illumination of Markus Becker makes dance suggestion even stronger.
